My Weblog: The Gospel Preacher.

In Revelation 20:2, it is written, " 2 And he laid hold on a the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years. "  An angel is mentioned as having bound Satan for a thousand years.  In Revelation 20:1, it is written, " 20 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, a having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. "  The Greek word ( Greek [ 32 ] ) for the word " angel, " here, is the same Greek word used throughout the New Testament.  It is defined as follows, namely: " They are subject not only to God but also to Christ (Heb. 1. 4 sqq. ; 1 Pet. iii. 22, cf. Eph. i. 21 ; Gal. iv. 14), who is described as hereafter to return to judgment surrounded by a multitude of them as servants and attendants : Mt. xiii. 41, 49 ; xvi. 27 ; xxiv. 31 ; xxv. 31 ; 2 Th. i. 7, cf. Jude 14. "1  Thus, the reference in Revelation 20:2, to an angel from heaven binding Satan for a thousand years, means that he did so as a servant and attendant of Christ.  As is established in the church bulletin, below, Jesus destroyed, that is, disarmed, the devil when He died on the cross.  This means that the act of that angel coincides with Jesus having bound the strong man ( i.e., Satan ) at the cross.  Jesus, being raised from the dead by God ( see Acts 2:32, for example ), provided the opportunity for all those in the world, who obey Him ( see Mark 16:15, 16 and John 3:16, 17, and 36, for example ), to be raised to walk in newness of life, for in Romans 6:4, it is written, " 4 Therefore we are aburied with him by baptism into death: that blike1 as Christ was raised up from the dead by cthe glory of the Father, deven so we also should walk in newness of life. "  Jesus is the Savior of the world in the sense that all those in the world who have obeyed the gospel message ( see Acts 15:1-21 ( especially verse 7, for example ) and Ephesians 1:1-14 ( especially verse 13, for example ), for example ), having become Christians, members of the church ( see Acts, chapter 11 ( especially verse 26, for example ) and Romans 12:1-8 ( especially verse 5, for example ); 16:16, for example ), are saved.  This is the correct understanding of 1 John 4:14.  Jesus died for the church, for in Ephesians 5:25, it is written, " 25 aHusbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and bgave himself for it. "  Jesus did not die for a religious denomination, party, or sect.

Moses wrote that the LORD would raise up a prophet like unto him, for in Deuteronomy 18:15, it is written, " 15 aThe LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken. "  This was a prophecy concerning Jesus ( see John 1:21, 25, and 45, for example ).  Jesus is the only eternal Prophet ( see John 8:58, for example ).  Concerning the books of the prophets in the Old Testament, please see the bar chart, below:

The number of books of the Old Testament prophets, that is, the major prophets plus the minor prophets, is seventeen.  There are five major prophets ( i.e., Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel ).  Moreover, there are twelve minor prophets ( i.e., Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Mican, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi ).

The number of authors of the major prophets is four, since Jeremiah wrote the books of Jeremiah and Lamentations.  We must be thankful for the Prophet Who destroyed the devil ( see Colossians 3:15, for example ).  Please search the scriptures daily ( see Acts 17:10, 11, for example ). 🕮
