My Weblog: The Gospel Preacher.

In Deuteronomy 31:9, it is written, " 9 And Moses wrote this law, aand delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, bwhich bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel. "  The Hebrew word ( Hebrew [ 8451 ] ), for the word " law, " here, is defined as follows: " a precept or statute, espec. the Decalogue or Pentateuch. "1  It is clear that Moses wrote the Decalogue or Pentateuch.  Moreover, the following quotation regarding the word " law, " for example, is provided: " LAW, TEN COMMANDMENTS, TORAH  Law refers both to the revelation of the will of God in the Old Testament and to the later elaboration on the law referred to as the ' traditions of the elders ' in the New Testament (for example, Mark 7:5).  Law is one of the primary concepts in the Bible.  The specific translation of the term law is varied.  It may be used for a commandment, a word, a decree, a judgment, a custom, or a prohibition.  The first five books of the Bible (the Pentateuch) are known as books of the Law because they are based on the commandments which God revealed to Moses.…  The concept of torah is closely linked to that of covenant in the Old Testament.  The covenant agreement between God and his people at Mount Sinai provided the foundation for all of Israel's laws.  God, the deliverer of the Israelites from Egypt, set forth His instructions for His people.  They were to obey God's laws because of what He had done for them in saving them from Egypt (Ex. 20:2).  The laws found in Exodus, Deuteronomy, Numbers, and Leviticus cover all areas of community life.  The Torah is a gift of God to His people.  Obeying the Torah would result in His blessing (Ex. 19:5, 6).  Following the law would provide for the health and wholeness of the convenant community.  The Ten Commandments are a summary of the Law (Ex. 20:2-17; Deut. 5:6-21). "2  In Exodus 21:20, 21, it is written, " 20 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.  21 Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his amoney. "  Under the Law of Moses, an earthly master was allowed to beat his servant or slave, but if his servant or slave died, that master was to be punished.  This passage of Scripture is a foreshadowing of the suffering Savior.  In John 19:1, it is written, " 19 Then aPilate therefore took Jesus, and 1scourged him. "  In John 19:17-19, it is written, " 17 aAnd he bearing his cross bwent forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Gol´-go-tha: 18 where they crucified him, and atwo other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the 1midst.  19 aAnd Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross.  And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. "  Jesus, the divine Slave of God ( see Romans, chapter 6 ( especially verses 3, 4, 10, and 22, for example ) and Galatians 3:26, 27, for example ), took a severe beating, and then He got up from that beating and went to the cross for the church ( see Ephesians 5:25, for example ).  In Exodus 22:20, it is written, " 20 aHe that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed. "  Worship is defined for us in Genesis, chapter 22, for in verses one, two, five, nine, and ten, it is written ( please read all of this chapter to get the immediate context ), " 22 And it came to pass after these things, that aGod did 1tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.  2 And he said, Take now thy son, athine only son Isaac, whom thou blovest, and get thee cinto the land of Mo-ri´-ah; and offer him there for a dburnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.…  5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the 1lad will go yonder and worship, and acome2 again to you.…  9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and alaid him on the altar upon the wood.  10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son " ( Emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).  Thus, in a general sense, God defines ( see Psalm 119:65-73, 142, and 151; John 17:1, 3, and 17; Romans 15:1-4 ( especially verse 4, for example ); and 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16, 17, for example ) worship as doing whatever He commands us ( see Ecclesiastes 12:13, for example ) to do.  In Genesis 23:1-4, it is written, " 23 And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.  2 And Sarah died in aKir´-jath-ar´-ba; the same is bHe´-bron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.  3 And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of aHeth, saying, 4 aI am a stranger and a sojourner with you: bgive me 1a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight. "  The Bible teaches that we bury our dead out of our sight.  In Genesis 24:63-67, it is written, " 63 And Isaac went out ato meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.  64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, ashe 1lighted off the camel.  65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us?  And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a veil, and covered herself.  66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.  67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and atook Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac bwas comforted after his mother's death. "  The Bible teaches that sometimes a single man will marry a wife to comfort him after his mother's death.  Also, in this latter passage of Scripture, we see that Isaac went out in the field at the eventide to meditate.  In Joshua 1:8, it is written ( please read this entire chapter to get the immediate context ), " 8 aThis book of the law shall 1not depart out of thy mouth; but bthou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. "  Furthermore, in Psalm 1:1-3, it is written, " BLESSED ais the man that walketh not in the counsel of the 1ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, bnor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  2 But ahis delight is in the law of the LORD; band in his law doth he 1meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree aplanted by the 1rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doth shall bprosper. "  The Bible teaches that we are to meditate on God's word.  The law of Moses ( i.e., the Decalogue, for example ), is a portion of God's law, the Holy Bible.  The Mosaic Law was nailed to the cross of Calvary ( see Luke 23:26-49 ( especially verse 33, for example ) and Colossians, chapter 2 ( especially verse 14, for example ), for example ).  Please study the Holy Bible. 🕮
