I Will Not Be Inquired Of By You.

The following quotation is provided regarding the prophet Ezekiel, namely: " EZEKIEL   (E zē´ kĭ ĕl)  Personal name meaning, ' God will strengthen . '  A sixth-century B.C. prophet during the Babylonian exile, son of Buzi (1:3), and priest as well as prophet.  He was taken captive to Babylon in 597 B.C. by King Nebuchadnezzar along with King Jehoiachin and 10,000 others, including political and military leaders and skilled craftsmen (2 Kings 24:14-16).  He lived in his own house at Tel-Abib near the river Chebar, an irrigation canal that channeled the waters of the Euphrates River into the surrounding arid region.  Ezekiel's call came in 593 B.C., the ' thirtieth year ' (1:1), probably Ezekiel's age (though it has been interpreted as 30 years since the discovery of the law book in 622, 30 years since Jehoichin's imprisonment, or a system of Babylonian chronology).  Scholars have long debated whether Ezekiel was in Babylon or Jerusalem during his ministry.  The book bearing his name points unmistakably to a Babylonian locale (1:1-3; 3:15; 8:1-3; 33:21).  However, it has been argued that since most of the messages were addressed to the people of Jerusalem (16:2; 21:2; 22:2), it would have been meaningless to deliver them to the exiles.  Also, some believe his intimate knowledge of events in Jerusalem (for example, his desription of worship practices in the Temple, 8:1-18; Pelatiah's death, 11:13) would require that he was in Jerusalem.  To resolve the difficulties, some have suggested that he was in Babylon part of the time and in Jerusalem at other times. "1  NOTE: The picture, located at the upper, left corner of this paragraph, was downloaded from the " bing.com " web page.2

In Ezekiel 45:1-6, we read that a portion of the land, alloted as an inheritance, was to be set apart for the LORD as a holy district.  This holy district was to be 25,000 cubits long and 20,000 cubits broad.  The length of a cubit given in this context is eighteen inches.  Using the factor-label method, we will calculate the length and breadth of this holy district in feet, and then in miles.  These measurements are:
\begin{equation}\tag{1} 25,000 cubits × \frac{18 inches}{cubit} × \frac{foot}{12 inches} = 37,500 feet, \end{equation} and
\begin{equation}\tag{2} 20,000 cubits × \frac{18 inches}{cubit} × \frac{foot}{12 inches} = 30,000 feet. \end{equation} Then, we have:
\begin{equation}\tag{3} 37,500 feet × \frac{mile}{5,280 feet} = 7.1023 miles, \end{equation} and \begin{equation}\tag{4} 30,000 feet × \frac{mile}{5,280 feet} = 5.6818 miles. \end{equation} Thus, the holy district was 7.1023 miles long and 5.6818 miles broad.  Half of this holy district was for the priests, and the other half was for the Levites.  By contrast, the Vatican City in Rome is 0.6 miles long and 0.5 miles wide.3

How does this concept of a holy district apply to us as Christians?  God says that there is a certain way we are to behave in His household, the church of Christ ( see 1 Timothy 3:14, 15, for example ).  Assemblies of local congregations of the church of Christ are sacred because Jesus is in our midst ( see Matthew 18:20; John 6:27; and 2 Corinthians 13:3, 10, for example ) — He is not in the midst of the assemblies of religious denominations, parties, or sects.  Thus, the concept of a Holy district is a foreshadowing of the assemblies of local congregations of the church.  In Hebrews 10:1, it is written, " 10 For since the law has but x a shadow w of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, x it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. "  This means that the concept of a holy district is a shadow of the good things to come.  This, in turn, means that the good things to come, in this context, would be assemblies of local congregations of the church.  God never intended for us, as Christians, members of the church of Christ ( see Romans 12:1-8 ( especially verse 5, for example ); 16:16; and 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 ( especially verses 20 and 27, for example ), for example ), to have a literal holy district as described in Ezekiel, chapter 45.  Thus, the Vatican City is a result of a misunderstanding of Bible teaching.

Since God does not hear the prayers of those who are living in sin, and who are not interested in obeying the gospel message ( see Acts, chapter 10, 15:1-21 ( especially verse 7, for example ); and Ephesians 1:1-14 ( especially verse 13, for example ), for example ), for example, then He does not want us, as Christians, who are guilty of sin, to inquire of Him.  In this situation, God says, " I will not be inquired of by you. "  Please seek and read from the book of the LORD ( see Isaiah 34:16, for example ).
