In Vain Do They Worship Me.

In Matthew 14:34 ( please read all of this chapter to get the immediate context ), Jesus and the disciples had crossed over the Sea of Galilee and came to Gennesaret.  It was here, in Gennesaret, where the Pharisees and the scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem.  They asked Jesus why His disciples broke the tradition of the elders by not washing their hands when they ate.  Jesus exposed the Pharisees and scribes as false teachers ( see 1 John 4:1, for example ).  Jesus said that eating with unwashed hands does not defile anyone ( see Matthew 15:20, for example ).  He condemned the Pharisees and scribes for breaking the commandment of God for the sake of their tradition.  Jesus said that hypocrites draw near to God with their lips, but their heart is far from Him.  He also said that teaching as doctrines the commandments of men is vain worship.  This is what members of religious denominations, parties, or sects, do, since they are dissenters ( see Exodus 24:1-8, for example ).  Christians do not dissent from any of God's word.  God only accepts worship that is based on His commandments.  Denominational worship does not do this — it is hypocritical in nature.  NOTE: The source code, for the picture to the top, left of this paragraph, was taken from the " biblestudy.org " web page.1

As Christians, we must make the best use of our time.  In Ephesians 5:15, 16, it is written, " 15p Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16p making the best use of the time, because q the days are evil. "  God says that hypocritical, that is, partisan, worship is a waste of time.

The days are evil because our lives on this earth are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes ( see James 4:14, for example ).  We must spend our time living for Christ ( see 2 Corinthians 5:14, 15, for example ).  This will be a life of sincerity, for example ( see 2 Corinthians 1:12, for example ).

The Pharisees were offended at what Jesus said in Matthew 15:11, which means that they were offended at God's word ( see John 8:26, 29, for example ).  Jesus said, concerning those who are offended at God's word, to let them alone.  Please seek and read from the book of the LORD ( see Isaiah 34:16, for example ).
